Early Childhood
Education Centers

Proyecto’s Early Childhood Education Centers began as the Women’s Childcare Cooperative in 1986, founded by local women seeking work experience for amnesty. They recognized that quality early education is crucial for leveling the playing field, especially for children in marginalized communities.

Decades of research have confirmed that early childhood education plays a crucial role in shaping future success, fostering critical thinking, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Children in high-quality programs are more likely to excel academically, graduate from high school, and break the cycle of poverty.

At Proyecto, our Early Childhood Education Centers—La Guardería and Centro de Alegría—serve 100 children, ages 18 months to 5 years, during this key period of brain development. Through play-based learning and evidence-based curricula, we equip children with the skills and confidence to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond.

We also prioritize parent engagement, offering monthly workshops to support learning at home and strengthen family-educator partnerships.

Our graduates enter Kindergarten as curious, confident learners, ready to embrace opportunities. By investing in early education, we are transforming lives and strengthening communities for generations.
