COVID-19

SOLIDARITY FUND

COVID-19 is impacting every person and every community across the globe; however, low-income communities like Boyle Heights are being impacted disproportionately.

During

Proyecto Pastoral Cares

Guadalupe Homeless Project:

  • Now operates 24 hours 7 days a week

  • Serves 70 homeless men and senior women daily

  • Provides Socio-emotional supports for residents

  • Provides secured isolation for seniors

IMPACTO

  • IMPACTO pivoted its work to a remote online or phone platform for 80% of its students

  • Coordinating food access/delivery and emotional support check-ins with seniors at Pico Gardens.

  • Staff is also case-managing 220 families to assess needs and facilitate resources to families.

Early Childhood Education Centers

Our ECEC's are open to about 15 children of essential workers (healthcare, restaurants, grocery store workers). Staff have been working to implement social distancing norms with the children in each classroom, and are carrying out a rigorous cleaning schedule to keep staff and children safe. ECEC staff has also pivoted to provide case management-like services through check-ins and resource distribution with parents of the remaining 70 children who are sheltering at home. They assess their needs and struggles with this change to connect them to the resources they need.
