IMPACTO (Imaginando Mañana Pico-Aliso Community Team Outreach)

IMPACTO is an after-school academic enrichment program designed to motivate and inspire underserved youth of Boyle Heights with the pursuit of education.   IMPACTO works to empower youth through tutoring, personal development, local community participation and increased social awareness in order to become great civic leaders of tomorrow.  IMPACTO serves nearly 200 youth at two sites; a center based site and a school based site at Dolores Mission School.  The program runs year round from 2:30-6:00pm during the school year and from 11:00am – 5:30pm during the summer.

Comunidad en Movimiento (CEM, Community in Action)
Comunidad en Movimento  is a program designed to organize residents of Boyle Heights, and help them to eradicate various social issues that affect their community.  One fundamental goal of CEM is to break the continuous cycle of poverty within and beyond their community in order to create lasting change within Boyle Heights.

Early Childhood Education Center

The Early Childhood Education Centers was founded in 1988 when a group of mothers in the community wanted to respond to the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and allow amnesty-eligible women to seek employment by forming the first neighborhood child care cooperative.  Today, our two centers—La Guarderia and Centro de Alegria—provide quality free to low cost and culturally sensitive early childhood education services to nearly 100 toddlers and pre-school age children within the Boyle Heights community of East Los Angeles.

Guadalupe Homeless Project
The Guadalupe Homeless Project (GHP) was established in 1988 and opened its doors in order to provide emergency shelter for homeless men in Boyle Heights. For more than 20 years GHP has been the only men’s shelter in East Los Angeles to provide homeless men with warm meals and a 90-day temporary shelter. GHP not only provides clients with a safe place to lodge, but also teaches and encourages men to commit to taking proactive steps in order to transition into independent living.  With the assistance of trained staff and volunteers, other GHP’s services include:  medical attention, educational seminars, a job development program, mental health support and transitional support for all clients.

Thrift Store
